    I own a real Japanese T10 spring steel with a real hamon and clay hardened. Cost more than that but there are many demonstrations on how T10 spring steel outperforms high carbon 1060 and around that blades.

    Sharpness tests are not good until they are tested after use. Most cheap swords will dull after a couple of cuts and then sharpening them again will take you forever.

    Hate to break it to you, but that hamon isnt real. When a katana blader whether T10, 1095, 1080, 9250 or 1060 steel. As it undergoes differential hardening from either clay tempering or quenching. The hamon line created has a cloudy hue surrounding the nearby line of the actual hamon. when clay tempering, the hamon actually has a different colour all the way to the tip of the blade. In the case of your katana the hamon has a small amount of cloudiness on the hamon line. But it is most likely a printed hamon, not an authentic hamon from differential hardening processes.

    Look a katana doesn’t need to be clay hardened, a spring steel blade is going to be much tougher and so is a T10 blade .

    • @Svet69
      @Svet69 Рік тому

      The sword in the video above is made out of T10 steel and is clay hardened on top of that. Spring steel is super tough for sure, but it cannot show a real hamon due to the alloying elements in it, which make it deep hardening. If you don't care about having a traditional-looking hamon, then a spring steel blade is a very good choice.

    The pointy tips above the string knock that you said looks like a Bowie knife is actually a very traditional look and finish on those Mongolian horse bows. And after all the Mongolians are Chinese. But I do see what you mean and they could get hung up on something while menauvering through brush when hunting in the Forrest. So I’d probably sand them down a bit and make it not quite as an extreme point to it, round it off just to be safe. That’s a cool find. For $40 now I wanna go get online and order one before I even eat breakfast hahaha!!!

Blunting it, shows you have no idea of history ! See the forgotten videos from Lars Anderson, he has studied the old archery systems, and knows, how, archers of old, survived........and not by cutting the points, off their bows !
